Episode 25: Skeet Scat: A Tale of Two Asses

I recognize that I'm fairly useless with a shotgun.  Until my last outing to the range with my stepson, I had only ever taken one shot at clay.  I missed.  I did much better this time than I thought I would.

There's a new improvement on the traditional stink bomb out there.

Also, it gets hot in SC, and sitting down in this heat can hold some awkward surprises.

Episode 24: Compensators, Muzzle Brakes, and Supressors

Different doo-dads you can add to your muzzle.  Muzzle brakes can soften recoil, but they make your rifle LOUD!

Episode 22: Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy isn’t just a new-age health practice; sometimes you need those nitrocellulose fumes more than sage and lilac.   Breda had a post at http://www.thebredafallacy.com/2011/03/how-it-starts.html about a local reporter who took an important step to get over her fear of guns.  She took a CCW class.  Here’s a link to her article: http://www.cleveland.com/pdq/index.ssf/2011/03/from_gun-shy_to_gun-savvy_weap.html

I’ll be on America’s Radio Show tonight.  Here’s a link to that show: http://woic.com/skin/elink.php?url=www.americasradioshow.com

Check out the Strike-Hold lubricant.  It not only cleans, lubricates, and protects, it also smells pretty good. http://strike-hold.com/

Episode 21: The SKS Firing Pin

A new SKS rifle is a wonderful thing, but you have a lot of work to do before you try to fire it.  First you have to get all the cosmoline off it (and out of it), then be sure your firing pin is free.  The SKS has a floating firing pin, and if it gets gunked up and stuck in the forward position you could get slam firing.  Bad juju.

Episode 20: Video Games as a Training Aid?

A lot of things here have been breaking, wearing out, and going down.  The latest was my computer.  I fixed it up, and now it's running well enough to play Doom 3.  That's one SCARY GAME!  Here's how I apply the game to real life and real life to the game.

Episode 19: Triumphant Gunsmithing

I'm pretty tickled with myself. I managed to fix 2 guns all on my lonesome. Okay, I did get some instructions on youtube and from a book, but they're back in action.
The book was The Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/Disassembly Part 2: Revolvers, 2nd Edition, by J.B. Wood.

Episode 18: I Miss My Fun Guns

I miss my fun guns. Since the ammo shortage, I've been reluctant to shoot a lot. I know it's pretty much over, but I'm still conserving. Also, time is at a premium and all my efforts have been geared toward concealed carry defensive practice and teaching new shooters.

My favorite gun is still in pieces, too. I got the replacement parts at Numrich. Here's a link: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/

I have to promise myself to always bring a fun gun with me when I go to the range.
